Email Configuration with ZeptoMail
This guide will help you to verify your domain in ZeptoMail services, especially if your website is a job board and your emails are transactional in nature. The main types of emails are related to candidate and employer sign-in/sign-up activities, OTPs, and transactional alerts such as job postings.
Here's the tutorial video followed by detailed steps:
Step-by-Step Guide
Log in to ZeptoMail
Go to the ZeptoMail website.
Log in to your ZeptoMail account using your credentials.
Navigate to Domains
Once logged in, navigate to the Domains section, usually found in the sidebar under Email Configuration.
Here, you can add or manage domains that you will use to send transactional emails.
Add Your Domain
Click on Add Domain.
Enter your domain name, which should be the one associated with your job board website. Example: yourjobboardwebsite.com
Verify Your Domain
ZeptoMail will provide you with a set of DNS records (like TXT, SPF, and DKIM records) that you need to add to your domain’s DNS settings.
These records will help verify that you own the domain and improve the delivery of your transactional emails.
Update DNS Settings
Access your domain registrar or DNS hosting provider.
Add the following DNS records provided by ZeptoMail:
TXT Record (to verify domain ownership)
SPF Record (to ensure email deliverability and prevent spoofing)
DKIM Record (to sign emails digitally, improving trustworthiness)
Save and apply the changes.
Wait for Domain Verification
It may take a few hours for DNS changes to propagate.
Once the DNS settings are updated correctly, your domain will be verified automatically by ZeptoMail.
Set Up Email Senders
After the domain is verified, you need to set up email senders.
These are the email addresses from which you will be sending transactional emails to your candidates and employers. Example: [email protected]
Configure Email Settings
Under the Manage Portal => Settings => Email Settings section, configure the necessary parameters like the SMTP or API options provided by ZeptoMail.
Test Emails
After setting up, send a test transactional email to ensure everything works.
Ensure the emails are correctly delivered to both candidates and employers without landing in their spam/junk folders.
Monitor Email Delivery
Use ZeptoMail’s reporting features to monitor email delivery rates, bounce rates, and spam complaints.
This will help you maintain a healthy domain reputation and deliverability.
Verifying Your ZeptoMail Account
Before verification, your ZeptoMail account will be limited to 100 emails per day. Once your domain is verified, this limit is removed, and you can send emails without restriction.
During the initial setup, ZeptoMail will ask for details about your business and the type of emails you intend to send. You can use the following as sample responses:
Nature of Business & Type of Emails
Business Type: Job Board Website
Email Types: Transactional emails only, such as:
Sign-in and sign-up notifications for candidates and employers
One-Time Password (OTP) emails.
Job posting alerts, job application updates, and other related transactional messages.
Following this guide ensures your domain is properly verified in ZeptoMail, allowing your transactional emails to be delivered efficiently and reliably to both candidates and employers.
To complete the verification process, you’ll need to fill in the verification form. You can use the following statement to make the process smoother:
“Our website operates as a job board platform. Emails sent from this domain are strictly transactional, including user sign-in/sign-up confirmations, One-Time Password (OTP) notifications, job posting alerts, and application status updates.”
