# Domain Configuration

##  What is a domain name?

1. A domain name is a string of text that maps to a website's IP address.
2. It's the part of a web address that comes after "[www](http://www)." or the part of an email address that comes after the "@" sign.
3. For example, the domain name for Google is "google.com".

## Benefits of configuring a domain name

1. The website URL will show your branding instead of "arthajobboard.com".
2. **Look more professional** – A branded domain builds trust. 
3. **Stay consistent** – Keep your brand recognizable across all channels. 
4. **It is easier to find** – A custom domain makes it effortless for job seekers and employers to remember you.

## How to configure a domain name?

1. Add your custom domain in Admin Panel➝ Manage Portal➝ Settings➝ Domain Configuration.
2. Click on "Edit".<br>

3. Enter your custom domain name and click the Save button.<br>

4. Follow the steps given below to enter all the records in this section as shown on the platform.

   Log in to your domain registrar’s website.

   1. Navigate to the **DNS Management** section.
   2. Find the option to **change your domain’s DNS settings**.
   3. You must enter a record in this section.

      Add the "TXT" Record with the following details:

      1. Type: TXT
      2. Name/host : enter '@' for the primary domain (e.g., yourdomain.com) or enter a subdomain name if using sub domain (e.g., 'jobs' for jobs.yourdomain.com).
      3. Value
      4. TTL: 3600 seconds<br>

      5. Click Save to add the "TXT" type record.

      Add the "CNAME" Record with the following details:

      1. Type: CNAME
      2. Name/host : enter '@' for the primary domain (e.g., yourdomain.com) or enter a subdomain name if using sub domain (e.g., 'jobs' for jobs.yourdomain.com).
      3. Value
      4. TTL: 3600 seconds<br>

5. Save the changes and allow some time for the DNS updates to propagate.
6. You can also Send these intructions to any team member by clicking on Send Instructions button and then can add their email Ids to send it.<br>

7. Once the above steps are complete, click on verify button to check if the propagation is complete. It would usually take from few minutes to 48 hours.
